OVERVIEW:

A modern understanding of the evidence on pain neuroscience in treatment of low back pain is crucial. Keen appreciation of how to discuss the condition with patients reduces nocebo and improves outcomes. Industry leader, Greg Lehman, brings inimitable wit and subject matter expertise on this topic to this 2 hour survey course.

OBJECTIVES:

By completion of this course, the registrant should be able to:

  1. Be able to define nocebo
  2. Develop language to avoid nocebo
  3. Produce strategies to reduce threat to feared movements
  4. Carefully expose fearful patients to movements which reduce sensitization
  5. Begin to develop an understanding of loading movement to reduce fear

Instructor

Greg Lehman, BKin, MSc, DC, MScPT

I have been in the rehabilitation field for more than 20 years. Following my undergraduate degree in Kinesiology (4 full time University years) I was awarded the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology Gold Medal for highest academic performance in Kinesiology. This degree allowed me to obtain certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist and Certified Fitness Appraiser and I have worked as a Strength and Conditioning coach for Sir Wilfrid University's Men's Basketball team and for Queen's University Women's Varsity Hockey Team.

My success in university resulted in being awarded a graduate scholarship (NSERC) toWaterloo University to be 1 of only 2 Masters students studying with Dr Stu McGill, a world leader in Spine Biomechanics, exercise prescription and athletic performance.

As a faculty member at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College I developed a research program that produced more than 20 publications on exercise biomechanics, golf fitness and the science of manual therapy. I taught more than 25 graduate students in Spine Biomechanics and Research Instrumentation and supervised more than 50 students and 20 undergraduate research theses. I was subsequently awarded a Researcher of the Year award by the Ontario Chiropractic Association.

FAQ

  • CE CREDITS: How do I obtain chiropractic CE credits?

ProChiroOnlineCE offers PACE accreditation for chiropractors in most US states and Canadian provinces. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR FINDING OUT IF YOUR STATE ACCEPTS PACE ACCREDITATION! A list of states and provinces that accept PACE accreditation is available at this link: https://pacex.fclb.org/pages/RegulatoryBoards.php.
